— 05 Common questions

Renovations & extensions — questions answered.

Can we stay in the house during the renovation?+

Most full-home renovations are easier and cheaper if you can move out for the duration, but we run staged works where staying is necessary. Wet areas and kitchens are typically the longest displacement.

How accurate is the early budget?+

Our concept-stage budget is ±15%. The fixed-price contract issued after documentation is ±0 on scope — variations only on client-requested change or unforeseen ground conditions.

Do you renovate heritage homes?+

Yes. Heritage-sensitive renovations are a substantial part of our practice — see Heritage Restoration for projects on heritage-listed properties.

What about second-storey additions on existing slabs?+

We engineer additions to suit the existing structure. Where the slab and footings are insufficient, we cost a strengthening package up front — never a surprise mid-build.

How disruptive is the work for neighbours?+

We coordinate scaffold, deliveries and noisy works around residential hours and let neighbours know in writing before any street-side or boundary work begins.

Do you handle interior finishes too?+

Yes — joinery design, finishes, paint, lighting and fixtures can all be handled in-house, or coordinated with a designer you already work with.
